Smart City Hackathon

Smart Cities Hackathon is open students of Universities and engineering & Business schools who would like to contribute to make their city a better place through Smart Cities innovative applications and solutions. This Hackathon will take place on May 2-4, 2024 and it is a completely free event in which competing university students teams wishing to make a difference in their cities through innovative smart cities solutions are welcome ! All participating teams will have the chance to present their projects in a rocket pitch fashion to the judges, who will decide the winners.

WHAT SHOULD YOU CREATE?

The Smart Cities Hackathon participants are required to build innovative solutions for a Smarter Cities through a rapid pace development. These solutions should include a functional prototype related to one of the areas below.

Welcome and Introduction
Presentation of the challenges and available tools (building kits, coding platforms, etc.).
Introduction to the concept of smart cities.
Brief training on brainstorming and teamwork.

Team Formation and Brainstorming
Form teams and assign workspaces.
Brainstorm as a team to identify challenges in your city and imagine innovative solutions.

Lunch Break
Grab a quick bite and strategize with your team.

Development and Prototype Creation
Refine your ideas and start building prototypes (physical or virtual) using the provided tools.
Mentors will be available to answer questions and guide your team.

Presentation and Preparation
Finalize your prototypes and prepare a concise presentation highlighting your smart city concept.

Presentations and Judging
Each team presents their project to a panel of judges.
The jury will evaluate creativity, feasibility, and the potential impact of each solution.

Award Ceremony and Closing
Announcement of the winning team and presentation of prizes.
Distribution of participation certificates to all participants.
Brief closing remarks from the organizers.
